A FAMILY STORY in the heart of Trentino

The Hotel Stella Alpina in Bellamonte is much more than just a simple accommodation: it is a living piece of Trentino’s history; a place that carries within it the soul of a family and the transformation of an entire area.

The building, founded in 1898 by great-grandfather Baldassare Varesco, rose only to the first floor, before his sudden death from a heart attack brought construction to an abrupt end.
It was grandfather Gustavo Varesco, who rekindled the dream, carrying it forward with passion. During the 1950s and 1960s, while the Forte Buso Dam was being built, the Hotel took on a different role: it welcomed worker‘s families, and even housed a small school with two classrooms, becoming a true pillar of the community. When the Dam was finally completed, the building returned to its original vocation as a Hotel, enriched by various renovations over the years.

The most significant renovation took place around 1985, when the sauna, garages, and fire escape were added. After the passing of grandfather Gustavo in December 1976, management was entrusted to his son Rinaldo, who carried the family enterprise forward with dedication until 2019.

Today, in recognition of its historical and cultural value, the Hotel Stella Alpina has been listed for over fifteen years in the Register of Historic Artisan Enterprises of Trentino; a tangible testament to its enduring heritage and its deep bond with the community of Bellamonte.

We look forward to welcoming you to Bellamonte
